About M4A4 | Howl
More accurate but less damaging than its AK-47 counterpart, the M4A4 is the full-auto assault rifle of choice for CTs. It has been custom painted with the image of a snarling wolf.
M4A4 | Howl is a Contraband M4A4 skin featuring the Howl finish. Its float value ranges from 0 to 0.4, so it can be found in Factory New to Well-Worn condition. Lower floats look cleaner and generally command higher prices.
A StatTrak™ version exists that counts confirmed kills and typically sells at a premium over the standard finish. Souvenir editions can also appear, dropped during supported tournaments and often carrying player/team stickers.
Prices for M4A4 | Howl vary by wear, pattern, and StatTrak availability. Use the marketplace links below to check current listings across the platforms SkinJudge reviews.
Howl launched in 2014 as a Covert skin available through the Huntsman Weapon Case. Valve removed it from the case within weeks after its wolf artwork was found to closely resemble another artist's copyrighted work, and reclassified all existing copies from Covert to the unique Contraband rarity.
Because it was pulled so quickly, the total supply of Howl skins is fixed and relatively small compared to skins that stayed in circulation for a case's full run, which, combined with its one-of-a-kind rarity tier, has kept it firmly among the most expensive standard weapon skins in the game.
Howl's fierce, stylized wolf-head artwork wrapping the rifle body is instantly recognizable, but its real notability is historical: it is the only skin to ever carry the Contraband rarity, a badge created specifically because of its removal, and it remains one of the clearest examples of how a skin's story can matter as much as its supply.
Expect a high price regardless of wear tier, since Contraband status alone drives most of the value; float still affects appearance but matters less than for skins where pattern or fade percentage is the deciding factor. Always verify authenticity and the seller before a purchase this expensive.
